The New York Mets have had quite the tumultous experience with former slugger and struggling designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach. Here’s how Vogelbach could perhaps fuel his comeback amid recent events and a look at today’s start.
Vogelbach, 30, came back from a mental rest and started tonight at DH vs the St. Louis Cardinals. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Vogelbach hit a solo shot to make it a 6-1 lead, ending his horrendous slump, so far in his last 5 games he had 1 batted in, 3 BB, and one mere hit.
So far this season, Vogelbach has had 118 at bats, where he’s got 24 hits, 2 home runs and 14 RBI’s, sporting a .203 batting average and a .343 OBP, which could be credited due to a significant amount of walks, 25.
His 2022 splits vs righties are the primary reason the team jumped and made the choice to bring Vogelbach to Queens, in 2022 vs. right handers, Vogelbach wowed in 314 at bats, with 82 hits, 18 home runs, 52 batted in, 62 BB, a .261 batting average and a solid .382 OBP.
Vogelbach came up big today in the Mets’ 6-1 win over the Cardinals with the much needed solo shot, there is a good probability that the blast could fuel some better times. The entire Mets bench recognized this was much needed for him, giving credit where it is needed. Tough times don’t last forever, and Vogelbach could very well have just needed the mental rest to reset and sort things out.
