NY Mets: How To Mentally Prepare For The Season

The 2026 New York Mets got both a significant boost but lost some key pieces too. From letting Brandon Nimmo, Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz slip away to signing Bo Bichette and Marcus Semien. Hereโ€™s some Mikayla made and approved ways you can enjoy the season without expecting the best or preparing for the worst.

  1. Enjoy player achievements and personal milestones.

While somewhat sentimental, and quite hopeful, itโ€™s soothing when players that you had high hopes for as a prospect get their moment to shine. Nevertheless, the โ€œI told youโ€ to a friend who didnโ€™t share the same optimism as you did is highly rewarding. Not only is that rewarding personally, it gives you something to look forward to watching.

For me, when I write my player of the month pieces, itโ€™s a piece I always look forward to writing. Most days, writing feels like a chore. But every 28th itโ€™s like a free Starbucks coffee to me, it soothes my soul

2. Donโ€™t expect too much

Getting fooled by a huge April will certainly let you down each May.

Take it one month at a time. Donโ€™t expect the playoffs before August is here. Stop feeding the trolls online- a reaction is what theyโ€™re craving. Peace of mind should be your priority as a fan.

We can either be our own peace or be subject to despair because of our own mindset. Donโ€™t compare this team to other teams, focus on whatโ€™s going good.

However, also, be aware of areas that need fixing.

3. Make watching fun.

For me, I bought SNY for my iPad. On fridays, Iโ€™m going to order takeout. Thatโ€™s my special day to watch and eat. Saturdays, Iโ€™m going to write, wearing my cozy pajamas, going to Starbucks maybe or choosing to sip a Red Bull. Sundays? Thatโ€™s my day to edit. Re-reading what Iโ€™m emphasizing in my blog posts.

Monday? Hitting publish.

Tuesday? Baseball hopefully. I love to watch, writing could be overwhelming back to back. Iโ€™m aware of my triggers, something that may overwhelm me.

By Thursday, Iโ€™ll hopefully have a second piece up. This one should be news related with an opinionated twist.

You personally just got a how to pace yourself tutorial coupled with baseball knowledge. Thatโ€™s all the more reason people should follow this blog.

Not everyone is Fransisco Lindor. Heโ€™s always smiling. Iโ€™m usually frowning. Really I donโ€™t even smile when Starbucks hands me my coffee, I usually say thank you and head out.

This season, Iโ€™m looking forward to getting back to enjoying the sport that used to bring me joy. I miss watching with hope.

And I hope this helped at least one Mets fan.
