The 2024 New York Mets have been making lackluster grade C moves all offseason long, from SP Luis severino and Joey Wendle being the biggest acquisitions and signings. Wendle, a utility man.coming over from the Miami Marlins, age 33, hit 2 home runs and 9 rbis with a .212 batting average.
Severino isnโt much better, heโs sporting a -1.8 WAR and went 4-8 in 2023 before being shelved with significant injuries.
Enter the new year, and more tough, sad signings. Sean Manaea, 31 years old, went 7-6 with a 4.44 ERA in 2023, and is only projected to put up the same numbers in 2024.
Thatโs laughable.
Iโm unsure why the hype surrounding Manaea, as his ERA and record signals disaster and disappointment if weโre being honest. Itโs obvious the team doesnโt view playoff contention this year and is just looking to get the younger guys focused on their big league careers, or so it seems.
All in all, this offseason haul is so mid and horrendous. Itโs going to be a long 2024, Mets fans, so just deal with it the best you possibly can and look forward to 2026.
