The New York Mets are hosting the Baltimore Orioles at Citi Field, and fan favorite, beloved former Met Pete Alonso received a warm welcome from the Mets faithful.
From catching up with Owner Steve Cohen before the game to former Teammate Fransisco Lindor clapping during the beginning of his at bat, the impact Alonso had on both the fans and players is undeniably special.
What is even more ironic is Brett Batys defensive mishap at first base early in the game. I thought to myself “Pete Alonso would never!”
Alonso’s defense had become a huge staple of the conversation for many years, but his defense has significantly improved. Baty remains a huge liability defensively and although his bat has been decent over the past two weeks, there’s a lot he has to prove.
We all know how valuable Alonso is. That’s why many of us are still grieving, and will be for many years to come.
