The 2026 New York Mets have hit an all time low. From parting ways with Pete Alonso this offseason to putrid performances on the field, the team never runs out of ways to embarrass themselves. Hereโs why David Stearns, Mets President and executive is single handedly the one to blame
When you prioritize moves like Marcus Semien, Bo Bichette and even Juan Soto, it may seem like a good decision, thinking youโll get more productivity out of these names. The sad reality is, Pete Alonso was a homegrown talent who has proven his loyalty and production year after year. Replacing that with a below subpar Mark Vientos at first base is a significant downgrade, and it also alters the team atmosphere. The clubhouse lost one of its most vital and energetic parts.
David Stearns has made bad decision after bad decision and eliminated everyone that seemed to produce and provide. All for the sake of his stupid analytics theories. The numbers in his calculations are indeed incorrect, and the formulas are bullshit. He knows nothing about building a winning culture and even less about building a clubhouse that co exists.
Heโs got to go. With Stearns at the helm the Mets wonโt touch third place again for years. The time to relieve him of his duties is immediately.
