NY Mets: It’s Time To Announce My Decision On Player Of The Month (April)

The 2024 New York Mets have had a tumultuous first month of baseball. It started off ugly, then the team quickly picked up the pace. Now the Mets are playing decent and wins are scarce too, somehow, at the same time.

One player has stood out and deserves to be named player of the month of April for Mets baseball. Let’s discuss it.

While stars such as Kodai Senga, who dazzled in last season’s debut, are shelved due to injury, and some players are on the rebound, such as Luis Severino and Starling Marte, others have defied the odds, especially when it was a given that they no longer would be the starting daily third baseman.

In case you missed it, Ronny Mauricio is out for the season. The news upset the team and the fans alike very much so. The Mets had no other choice but to make Brett Baty the next man up to defend the hot corner.

And Baty, 24, has done a phenomenal job.

This month alone, Baty, who is in his sophomore year here in Queens, has 24 hits, 1 home run, 9 RBIs, and is batting .256 with a .322 OBP.

Last year, Baty was nothing short of disappointing. In 108 games, his 2023 hit an all time low with 75 hits, 9 home runs, 34 RBIs, batting .212 with a .275 OBP.

His defensive mishaps perhaps were more prevalent and noticeable, compared to this season where Baty looks sharp at Third Base.

He’s earned the nod for April’s player of the month, 2024 season, Mets baseball. Congratulations, Brett!
