NY Mets: Predicting the Future While Revisiting The Past

Hi loyal readers and blog subscribers, it’s me again. This post is also NOT going to be in article format, in fact, I’m straying away from that. I’m a blogger, everything on here should be my opinion and unique spin on all things New York Mets baseball.

While the Mets are sitting pretty in third place, and in the third Wild Card, one thing remains a question right at this moment- what will the team do at the Trade Deadline? Will they shop Luis Severino, Pete Alonso, and various other players who the fans have come to know and love, even some way shorter tenures than others in New York? Who will they trade for, if so?

Much just remains a mystery. To me, selling seems unnecessary when you’re in position to make the playoffs. I understand selling if you weren’t. Yes, you have to consider long term, not just one season. However enticing it sounds to keep everyone, guys will still get dealt regardless.

How does this affect me? One may wonder.

I’m sipping my $7.11 Starbucks handcrafted coffee, from the comfort of my own home, I am aware that my favorite Met could very well now surprisingly be on the chopping block, and it’s in the back of my mind. Regardless, I plan to sip some margaritas poolside or have some Starbucks at the beach, using this blog as my emotional outlet on all things Mets.

Everyone seemed to prefer the heartfelt post about Pete Alonso. I took those reactions into consideration and pondered the direction I’d steer my blog in.

I’ve come to realize that people generally like to feel invested and a deep connection to what they are reading.

I’m going to get personal here sometimes. This blog is my outlet, after all, I pay to keep it up and running and it’s shaped my life so much I’ve written a 29,000 word autobiography about blogging.

I plan to be real, raw, upfront and honest with all of my readers. I want you to know me, the Mets fan behind this blog, I want you and the team to realize that everything they do can affect us. I have this platform. I’m blessed. Therefore I consider myself an influential voice of many Mets fans.

I sit on the blogs and forums, sipping my coffee, wondering if the team will win a World Series in my lifetime.

1969, 1986. When next?

Do you also wonder? What are your thoughts on this?

  1. This was a really great post Mikayla. I thought your last name was Rizzo. ??? Anyway, I was a HUGE fan of the Mets in 1986. It was the greatest team ever. Will the Mets ever win again? They probably will, but it will never be as good as ’86 again.

    Thanks,
