Whether or not Pete Alonso is re-signed remains to be seen. Whether star DH/3B Mark Vientos, 25, is moved to first base also remains to be seen. Honestly I think we should put Vientos at first base, LuisAngel Acuna at second base, and Ronny Mauricio at third.
Can’t fully imagine this team without Pete yet and it kills me but baseball is a business and it’ll get better eventually.
You know what sounds really good? The thought of Alonso being awful when signed for another team for so much money.
20 home runs, 70 RBIs, other unrealistic outcomes.
Wake up, his best years are still to come.
That wont happen, but it does sound awesome.
Because honestly 175-200 million, which is what he’s asking for, sounds reasonable and I think it’ll come back to bite Steve Cohen should someone top Cohen’s offers.
It’s like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Except, we are Mets fans.
I no longer like coffee. I drink Red Bull. Gonna sip my energy drink and pray to the baseball Gods that Steve Cohen can get his head outta his put and recognize Alonso’s worth. I see it, but who am I?
