NY Mets: If Baez leaves, team won’t succeed

The New York Mets have finally got a real good third baseman/ Shortstop in Javier Baez. Here’s why letting him walk could ultimately cost the team big.

Baez has the ability to change a game with one swing- he’s the master of speed and footwork on the base paths as well. Baez’ smart base running has won games for the Chicago Cubs and the Mets as well, and well, that’s important.

Baez also is a skilled defensive asset, he makes spectacular plays look routine and I can’t stress enough how that motivates the entire team to get going and do better. He’s a leader in every aspect on the field and at bat, where his strikeout percentage has noticeably dipped.

Remember those fans saying the Mets needed a franchise long term third baseman? Hello. If you lock up Baez for ten years $200M: (It isn’t greedy or crazy) the man deserves to be paid. You will indeed get a five tool player. Who knows, by letting Michael Conforto walk and exploring cheap outfield options you could very well reach the playoffs in 2022.

To sum this up, you need a guy like Baez in order to win some crucial games. Having him around is beneficial to everyone and it’s fun. The Mets should try to realize his resume is a one of a kind before another team makes an offer Baez won’t refuse.
