It’s time for my personal pick for NY Met of the year (2022)

Hello. It’s that time again.

The 2022 New York Mets have come up visibly short of their expectations, leaving fans devastated once again. It’s an old narrative that constantly repeats; and the storyline historic collapse in August/September just doesn’t die.

I’ve been a baseball blogger since I was around 12 years old, as a little girl. I can’t stress enough the importance of staying consistent and not overworking your bullpen, or your starters, both, with due respect.

If anything, going on pitches limits is one way of strategically planning and managing your game. Let’s say you bring in, say, closer Edwin Diaz after Jacob DeGrom gives you roughly 6-7 solid innings, and your core relievers are good throughout innings 7-8, this is a smooth game. There’s no need to constantly be going to your bullpen.

However, not every game is smooth sailing. Sometimes your relievers give the game away, and you need to bring in your closer in a non-save situation. Hence, it’s not exactly overworking your pen however if you aren’t careful in emergency situations you can accidentally misuse your bullpen.

I personally tip my Mets cap to closer Edwin Diaz. The elite Edwin Diaz. He brings his A-game, and is one of baseball’s most competitive duelers that you really want in do or die games. He’s lights out out in key situations and baffles opposing hitters easily. His solid change up and display of pitches he can throw all never disappoint.

That’s my vote for NY Met of the year. If you can redeem your career in New York, you can make it anywhere else in the world.

Solid stuff, let’s the Mets can open the checkbook and pay him what he rightfully deserves.
