The 2024 fourth place, 23-33, .411 New York Mets have no drive whatsoever. I simply have not much to say as far as the level of play is concerned. However, recent events involving former Mets SP Jorge Lopez have highlighted the decline. Let’s take a look.
Lopez was designated for assignment after a quote he made post throwing his glove into the stands was misconstrued.
Jorge Lopez did not deserve to be designated for assignment, and because he speaks broken English, he should never have been allowed to be available for the media to interview to begin with, especially without a translator.
It’s heartbreaking that not one teammate has come to the defense of Lopez.
It’s also to be noted and mentioned that ever since Manager Carlos Mendoza got his job, the team has started out cold, which never happens each April, and simply fell apart by May.
It’s underwhelming to say the least.

Yeah I think the kid got screwed here. I read about this in the New York Post and then I read what he said and it felt as it he was being hung out to dry. You’re right, where WERE his teammates?
