NY Mets: Harrison Bader Signing Proving To Be Key In Team’s Success

The 2024 fourth place, 28-36, .438 New York Mets have been doing an incredible job as of late, although they are 16.5 games back. While most of the offense is underwhelming, one player is proving to live up to the hype. Here’s why Harrison Bader is proving to be key in the Mets’ success.

Bader, 30, plays grade A defense in center field and has done a tremendous job offensively as well. While his defense has been the main topic of discussion during his tenure with the St Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees, he simply is also showing Mets fans why they should smile since he was signed this offseason.

This season, Bader has done a great job. The outfielder has a 1.2 WAR, 3 home runs and 23 RBIs, batting .267 with a .316 OBP.

In Bader’s last 5 games, he has 1 home run and 7 RBIs, which says a ton about how he’s starting to heat up when the team is playing much better baseball.

Bader has played 8 years in MLB, hitting 62 home runs and 240 RBIs total, batting .245 with a lifetime OBP of .311.

Bader might not be the power hitter who you look to to lead the franchise, however he’s the guy who gets on base consistently and saves games with way above average fielding skills.

The signing of Bader, which was a $10.5 million dollar, one year deal, is most definitely a win for the team. It would be wise to keep Bader around long term overall.

To put things into perspective, Bader is just the man leading this team during difficult times. Who knows, this could very well spark a huge turnaround for the Mets. It will be interesting to say the least.
