NY Mets: 4 Players To Watch in Mets Phillies NLDS

The New York Mets lost a close one, 7-6 to the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the NLDS yesterday. With some late game impressive offense by DH/3B Mark Vientos, 24, the team really pulled out all the stops trying to best their red hot rivals. Hereโ€™s 4 Mets to keep an eye on this series.

  1. Mark Vientos. Vientos, the odd man out earlier in the season presumably due to the signing of star DH JD Martinez, 36. Vientos offers versatility in the lineup with the fact that his best years are ahead of him, he can play 3rd base or DH providing the power in the lineup.
  2. Fransisco Lindor, SS. This simply goes without saying. Lindor is a force to be reckoned with at bat and a magician on defense. Furthermore, heโ€™s turned a cold start into an MVP potential season, entering his name yet again into the conversation by putting on a show at the plate the rest of the year.
  3. Pete Alonso, 1B. While a somewhat cold year for Alonso, 29, spells trouble for some, you canโ€™t deny the star has his sights set on better times. Due up, a mega deal, which the 4x All Star, 2x Home Run Derby Winner, and 2019 NL Rookie of the Year winner rightfully deserves. His bat has been an occasional presence and reminder that heโ€™s here, and wants to be here long term,
  4. Fransisco Alvarez, C. Alvarez, 22, is a catcher with solid defensive capabilities and framework who displays veteran level power offensively. In just his first season he averaged 20 home runs. Alvarez only gets better over time. He is what fans can expect to look forward to for years to come as the next franchise backstop that will give hints of Mike Piazza, Hall of Fame Legendary Mets Catcher, in comparison the team hopes.

Keep an eye on these 4 key Mets as they will deliver the spark for sure. If there were 4 names that would get the runs on the board, these 4 Mets are the first you can think of and count on to make that happen.
