The first place 18-7, .720 first place New York Mets are pulling all out the stops offensively and defensively. The team seems to have everything put together as far as pitching and offense. The team may be hot this spark early on, but here’s why winning all season long is no easy feat that must be continued in order to get far and it will prove a test of time.
The Mets have had many Aprils where they started off with a bang. The hot starts quickly faded after injuries and cold streaks quickly came upon several stars. That energy that was portrayed early on quickly faded, leaving fans devastated in September.
That’s exactly what I fear with this team. Sure, newly signed superstar Right Fielder Juan Soto, 26, hasn’t exactly heated up yet, but the future and his first season has still yet to be written as his first chapter in Queens. That means that the offense is thriving even without the $765 million dollar star contributing.
The issue I have is the fact that history can tend to repeat itself.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. I fear that no team stays hot consistently all year around, as obstacles can be prevalent even on the most formidable teams.
Sure, a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies was a huge confidence booster. It proved perseverance and that the team can take the lead at any given time.
I’m saying, based on the past, and when the other teams begin to bring the heat, the team must also stay hot in order to match their competitiveness.
That is not easy for any team, especially the close contested NL East.
