For some of us, it’s more than the stats.

The year is 2004. David Wright cutout photo from the newspaper, I walk to middle school with a cup of Starbucks coffee in my right hand. I have hope in my heart, and I can’t wait to get to the lunchroom table to blog about how David Wright is going to be the next best thing,

I remember when life didn’t suck so bad and fans lived in the moment, not on their cellphones 24/7.

I was getting accustomed to my digital life. David Wright led us to the NLCS in 2006. I loved my blog.

Middle school was certainly rough. I really liked this boy Jesse so much I was willing to change everything about me for him.

He didn’t even know my name. Well, he did, but he liked my sworn enemy.

What I’m saying is, Wright ended up being one of the players who became so sentimental and special to us Mets fans, especially us living with not much else to be happy about as a teen.

Love you, my captain. Thanks for walking with me in my teen years to early adulthood. Guiding my Mets fan soul and providing me happiness and comfort.
