Mets need Noah Syndergaard to contribute big upon return. The Mets struggled without former ace Noah Syndergaard’s efforts to keep the pitching staff solid. Here’s why it is make or break for a struggling Syndergaard to revive his career in his late 20’s.Syndergaard, who had a 4.28 ERA with a 10-8 record in 2019, looked like a shell of his old self on the mound. In 2016, Syndergaard went 14-9 with a 2.60 ERA. He used to be solid, and considered an ace of the staff alongside Jacob DeGrom.Syndergaard is 28 years old. It’s not too early or too late yet to turn things around, but, after Tommy John surgery, you never know what you will get when he returns in the spring training season. It’s important that he conditions himself well and looks to rebuild himself to where he once was without wrecking his body to the point of further injury. While the Mets are needy for their starting pitching to step up, besides DeGrom, Syndergaard is the most capable of having a rebound year on that staff. He sometimes looks lost out there and the rest of the rotation is a huge question mark. It’s now that Syndergaard needs to turn things around.

The rotation is good without him. Should he come back totally healthy, the pitching staff will be great.
