In case you missed it, Kodai Senga, Japanese star hurler, is now officially a New York Met. He is set to don the number 34.
In a press release, Senga was welcomed and gave off excellent vibes, topping it off with a “Let’s go Mets.”
He’s excited to be playing in the big apple.
The Mets need more good image players like Senga. A player can be a five-tool player but if he’s a clubhouse cancer, you will not win ballgames, contrary to popular belief.
The Detroit Tigers faltered with Javy Baez. Baez is an amazing athlete. Is he a little extra? Admittedly, he can be.
Flashy, pick me players are simply a bad look. A guy like Senga, on the other hand, is a huge win.
Add his solid pitching resume and you basically have exactly what you’re looking for in a ball player.
I’d rather a Kodai Senga then a Javier Baez, now that I’ve come to my senses. Sure, the talent is enviable yet so desirable.
Loyalty however, and enthusiasm?
I’m sold.
