The 2024 third place, 40-39, .506 New York Mets are on a roll this June. Everything began post Jorge Lopez incident, where the former Mets SP threw his glove into the stands.
Then having the media misconstruing a few statements of his, resulting in the prompt DFA of the clearly frustrated Lopez. Shortstop Fransisco Lindor goes calls a players only clubhouse meeting, and later on in that same game hits a 2 run shot! Now that is impressive!
This ignited a red-hot surge following popular McDonald’s mascot Grimace throwing out the first pitch, the team won 7 in a row!
The Mets are 8-2 in their last 10 games, and there has been one particular player among many who have outperformed the others.
Lindor, 30, has given the Mets pure excellence since his rather cold start in April. Now, he’s got a 2.7 WAR, having hit 13 home runs, 40 RBIs, batting .249 with a .317 OBP.
I could go on and on about leadership, which Lindor clearly brings to the team. He shows excellent hands on initiative and the younger guys gravitate towards his presence.
What’s great is that he displays both. To say he’s been great is simply an understatement. He’s been simply outstanding.
Congratulations Fransisco. This all gives you the nod to be named Mets baseball player of the month of June!
