NY Mets: 3 Reasons Fans Should Be Hopeful Yet Cautious Regarding Huge April

The 2025 first place 22-13 New York Mets had a huge April, maingtaining a first place lead and impressing in neartly every category such as pitching and offense/defense alike. Here are 3 reasons fans should be confident yet cautious this season.

Stars such as Fransisco Lindor, 31, Pete Alonso, 30, and Juan Soto, 26, have all played a key part and vital role in the team’s early achievments. While backup Catcher Luis Torrens, 29, wowed, promising backstop Fransisco Alvarez, 25, is back from injury, but not without pleading his case. Alvarez has delivered in most of his at bats since being recalled earlier this week, while some fans say Torrens deserves his job.

Sure, the youthful team backed by generational talent and leaders such as Soto and Lindor is hard to beat, but it’s May. The team may appear formidable, but is it enough to stay hot the entire season?

Obstacles sure happen, as injuries are no stranger to any franchise. One could make the argument “Wait until Soto heats up.”

The realistic approaches are the following.

3. Will the other teams eventually catch up to the Mets?

The Atlanta Braves are without star OF Ronald Acuna Jr, and SP Spencer Strider. Who’s to say they wont heat up when they both return?

2. Is it truly possible the Mets can defy the odds and prove to be a powerhouse that doesn’t cool off in August or September?

The team is well known to start off solid then fade out slowly into the background in the fall.

3. What stars will carry the team, if they haven’t already, and is it really the year of the Mets ALREADY?

Rome was not built in one day. The team two years ago was downright putrid both offensively and defensively.

I personally think the competition is fairly low and this team still has growth and development to do.

To put things into perspective, it’s valid to feel excited. This team is definetly going far. Just perhaps not this very moment.
