NY Mets: It Is Time To Announce My Decision On Player Of The Year

What. A. Season. The second place, .512 2025 New York Mets have had their fair share of heartbreak, triumphs, trial and error while welcoming several new stars to Queens. While some old faces have played underwhelmingly, others have simply defied the odds and expectations. In this blog post, yes, I am once again sacrificing my beloved sleep, I will delve deeper into the highs and lows this season. At the very end, I will announce who i personally have selected to be Mets Madness’ Player of the Year, 2025 Special Edition.

The team in itself has alot of potential- but it also has just as much questions and issues that need resolving. The core of the left side of the infield surely needs solidifying. With potential prospects that are now past their sophomore years, there is also Second Baseman Jeff McNeil, 33, whose respective career is coming to a sharp decline.

The key developments of Brett Baty, Fransisco Alvarez, Mark Vientos, Ronny Mauricio, and LuisAngel Acuna are what comes to mind when I think of the future. It is evident that Shortstop Fransisco Lindor, 30, and First Baseman Pete Alonso, 31, are hopefully untouchables alongside Right Fielder Juan Soto, 26.

Lets also note the obvious fact that SP Kodai Senga, 31, cannot stay healthy. As good as he is, when he is healthy, it technically cancels everything out and subtracts value from what he brings to the rotation. He seems to be the modern day Steven Matz.

If we are talking Sean Manaea, I personally appreciate him.

Edwin Diaz is an incredible closer. I personally knew that after 2022, his electric energy and his top notch ability to fan batters would get him what he wants. He deserves a mega deal.

As far as Alonso, betting on himself set the tone. Billionare owner Steve Cohen doubted the 5x All-Star and 2x Home Run Derby Champ. Pete thought he could produce 2019 numbers, in which he hit 50 plus home runs, winning the NL Rookie of the Year award.

When he followed up a massive 2023 with a below subpar 2024, fans began to speculate whether he truly was worthy of a larger contract.

Even Cohen himself. Alonso rejected the teamโ€™s Qualifying Offer, choosing to bet on himself.

And after a whopping 2025 for Alonso personally, the team’s disapointing finish was also not enough for the beloved first baseman. He announced that he will become a free agent.

Logically, it seems that Alonso is gone. Statistiaclly spaeaking, it is a game of numbers, and a business first and foremost.

Scott Boras is Alonso’s agent. That being said, it is typical of Boras clients to be prepped and know exactly how to make their demands set on the table. If Alonso did not have Boras, and Cohen this much finacial spending ability, I would deem Alonso out of Queens.

Alonso may not be back in a Mets uniform, He very well could, however, be playing the game too.

When someone plays a great game, it is usually the star pieces of the puzzle you think about. Lindor, Alonso.

Juan Soto may have had a horrendous 2025 beginning, but entering his name in an MVP conversation, after just a full season in New York?

Personally, Juan Soto gets the Lindor treatment because the fans are indeed tougher on the latino stars. Lindor and former Met Javier Baez heard the brunt of the boos, in which in retalitaion, they gave a thumbs down to the crowd.

Playing ball in New York takes patience, adaptablity, talent, and a huge thick skin mentality.

If you are being paid 765 million dollars and you slump week one, the blogs are trashing you. They have already said you have no hope and the team is cursed. Look at how they treated Lindor.

Soto is another Met that you simply cannot give up on. No matter how lost he may look sometimes, he can change the game with one swing and turn a franchise from rags to riches.

Patience.

Congratulations, Juan Soto. You have what it takes to make it in both bouroughs of New York, and you are officially my final descision for player of the year, 2025 Mets Madness special edition post.

Thank you for your loyalty, your grit, your determination, and all of your hard work. I know I am making the right choice by trusting in you.

Lets Go Mets!
